The new MRI department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn was officially opened today by HRH The Queen. The event was covered by the local press and we were honoured to be in attendance and meet the Queen.
The scheme comprised a courtyard infill within the heart of the hospital and required careful co-ordination of building materials and close collaboration with the architectural configuration to allow the scheme to be constructed within such a challenging location. Prefabrication of light materials was specified where possible to minimise construction noise on site and ease transportation of materials onto site. The scheme incorporates two 8 Tonne MRI units which were craned into position through de-mountable roof openings.
